FAQ's

Here are the answers to frequently asked questions. If you have a question, please write us.

Question: Why is RhythmKids important for my child?

Answer: In a RhythmKids class children are given the opportunity to lead, follow, create and to improvise. There are many benefits to playing drums, for example; improved memory skills, subdividing and recognizing patterns, focus and concentration, coordination, respect and cultural awareness. All the things kids need (activity, diversity, community) and all the things kids want (games, cool activities, new friends) are together. RhythmKids is the program I would have loved when I was younger. Strong rhythm is necessary and foundational for a variety of situations. Whether a student continues drumming, pursues dance, takes up sports or decides to start another instrument, rhythm will prove beneficial.

Question:
Can a preschooler join your RhythmKids class?

Answer: Our program can be adapted for preschoolers, but a child between the ages of 2.5 and 4 is just under the age recommendation for our mixed-age drumming classes. We highly recommend Music Together (www.musictogether.com) for music classes for younger children. They provide a strong foundation for the next generation of young musicians. On a side note, we have found that children who have taken early childhood music classes can pick up the RhythmKids drumming even at a younger age.

Question: RhythmKids is not in my area, what can I do?

Answer: Tom Foote, the Founder of RhythmKids, has a curriculum that can be used to begin a RhythmKids class. After more than ten years of research, we feel our method has been tested and can benefit children and educators in our quest to help children internalize rhythm. Contact RhythmKids if you are interested in starting a RhythmKids program.
